Den,
Yeah I think the season ticket renewals are down primarily because fans really have no clue who is going to be on this team next season. Fans are concerned that Steve Nash, Amare, and Shaq will be elsewhere leaving the Suns with little to no likeability until another star emerges. Once the marathon of NBA playoffs is over, the Suns need to move quickly on whatever they are planning to do or this town may turn into a football town really quickly! Thanks as always for your feedback!

Adam,
This is an interesting move by the Suns and Robert Sarver. My question becomes: Where does this put Steve Kerr? Sarver and Kerr are/were pretty tight. The hugh mistakes that the rookie GM has made must have Sarver shaking his head.
Naming Welts as CEO puts a layer of management between Kerr and Sarver. Any more giant gaffs by Kerr will give the Suns management cause to replace an underperforming GM. It is so much easier to have the CEO relieve the GM rather than having to replace your personal friend.
The Suns are having problems getting season ticket renewals. This situation can be partly because of the economy. You can bet that the poor performance of the team also is a large factor. The team started downhill from the moment they lost Joe Johnson.
I don't see Jerry Colangelo coming back to run the franchise. He is well into retirement. He deserves to enjoy his retirement.
