After last night’s 105-102 loss to the Portland Trailblazers, the Phoenix Suns have now lost 17 consecutive games that have been broadcasted on TNT. Even worse, is the Suns have dropped 6 consecutive games on the road. However, as we all know, the Suns schedule was front-loaded with road games and considering they are the only team in the NBA undefeated at home; only spells good news for the Suns the rest of the way. If the season ended today, the Suns would be the 4 seed in the Western Conference matched up with the Utah Jazz. Not a bad start for a team many had written off this year.
Surrendering a 11 point lead in the 4th quarter against Portland was brutal to watch, however what was even more embarrassing was the actions of Jerryd Bayless. Bayless, who played one year for the University of Arizona Wildcats scored 29 points on 9-15 shooting from the field. Aside from my natural dislike of U of A, being an Arizona State alumni myself, Bayless’s actions made me laugh at him. Every time he made a shot he was pumping his fists like he had won the NBA title. This is likely because he was surprised his shots actually went in considering the trajectory was reminiscent of a Nolan Ryan fastball. Anyway, I had a few notes to share with Jerryd Bayless in general:
1. If you grow a goatee, at least make sure it connects together. He looks like a 14 year old that has never shaved before.

2. You are not allowed to talk trash to an opposing coach unless you have actually accomplished something in the league. No, averaging 5.1 points per game on 41% shooting does not qualify.
3. “Act like you have been there before” No one likes being shown up in sports, it is nice to be excited but too much alienates the competitors. If Bayless continues to act the way he did during last night’s game he will get hammered by defenders every time he comes in the lane.
The Suns next face the Wizards at home on Saturday night. Hopefully, the Suns will have Jason Richardson available as he has been nursing a sore shooting hand the forced Alvin Gentry to start Goran Dragic at Shooting Guard against Portland. It was evident down the stretch that not having go to scorers of Leandro Barbosa and Jason Richardson hurt the Suns. The good news in the Suns should be at full strength again after Christmas and Amare Stoudemire is getting his explosiveness and ferocity back. This in conjunction with a heavily home laden schedule is great news for the Suns!
